Project task:
Through national-focused interventions, project activities are done with small and medium-sized enterprises to demonstrate the replacement of lead paint with lead alternatives using best available techniques (BAT) and best environmental practice (BEP).
Activities performed: project management, technical advice, reporting, data analysis.
Project description:
The outcome of the project is that 40 countries pass and implement laws to limit the use of lead paints; and for at least 50 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that manufacture paints in eight countries to gradually remove lead from their manufacturing processes.
The component of the lead in paint project includes working with governments to support the development of lead paint laws and working with small and medium-sized enterprises to promote the gradual elimination of the use of lead-based additives.
